Robert Leger works primarily in watercolor and ink on paper, ranging from the gestural economy of sumi-e and impressionist atmosphere to the bold graphic clarity of traditional tattooing. Years of study and practice around the globe, alongside a period living in Yosemite National Park, have shaped a practice rooted in the natural world and its mythologies. While Acadian Louisiana and Edo-period Japan anchor his imagination, every tradition is an open door.
